Georgia Lininger earned her MA in Journalism with the focus on environmental magazines from the University of Oregon. Her master’s thesis was on the history and environmental impacts of paper in the industries of newspapers, magazines, and books. As an author, Georgia’s first children’s book was published by a “hybrid” publishing house. Her next book was self-published. Frustratingly, neither of those options allowed for printing on recycled or tree-free papers. As she attended more and more writing conferences, seminars, and increased her involvement in writing communities, she met so many people who had tried for years to get a seat at the table of traditional publishing. She found that it was disheartening for so many incredible voices. So, Georgia decided to build her own table. She is the founder and editor-in-chief of Salus Publishing LLC, a book publishing house focused on publishing high quality books by diverse authors and illustrators in a variety of genres as sustainably as possible. Salus’ books, shipping and promotional materials are printed on 100% recycled or tree-free papers. She lives with her family on a small farm in Northern California.
